The first edition of the European Biomethane Week took place in Brussels with the presence of CoLAB BIOREF among the more than 650 participants at European level.
In a week dedicated to the state of the art in the field of biogases, the EBA Conference in Brussels was the main highlight among the numerous events held in several European countries. The meeting brought together more than 650 participants including researchers, policy makers, industry leaders and market experts to discuss the present and future of biogas and biomethane in Europe. The main focus was the goal of producing 35 bcm of biomethane by 2030 under the REPowerEU plan and the market growth prospects for 2050.
On behalf of CoLAB BIOREF, the Technical-Scientific Director, Joana Bernardo, and the researcher Cecília Mateos had the opportunity to exchange experiences, ideas and knowledge with their European counterparts in an event full of dynamism and sharing in one of the most important themes regarding decarbonization and energy transition.
At a conference dedicated to the preponderance of biomethane in climate and energy targets at the European level, issues such as the added value of biogases in the European bioeconomy, the recovery of biogenic CO2 from anaerobic digestion, the production and recovery of digestate and the mechanisms for stimulating research necessary for the growth of the biogas and biomethane market were also discussed.
