On November 14 and 15, CoLAB BIOREF participated in the “Tour Des Capitales” that took place in Fundação do Oriente, Lisbon.
This event was held by the Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior (MCTES) along with the European Commission (EC), Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) and Agência Nacional de Inovação (ANI).
Different representatives from the academy, industry, intermediary organisations and other stakeholders discussed the main challenges and opportunities for knowledge valorisation in order to accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions in the National ecosystem. On this subject, the participants were asked to share their opinions and experiences, emphasizing various mechanisms that are involved in the development of new technologies, products and services. Besides the impact of the adoption of new innovative solutions has on a technological perspective, social and economic impacts were also addressed.
On behalf of CoLAB, Francisco Gírio, President of the Management Board, participated in a round table discussion, on November 15, during the CoLABs breakout session. This round table was moderated by Gonçalo Zagalo (FCT). At this session, other institutions representatives attended, namely André Matos (DTx), Sofia Côrte-Real (VectorB2B), Tatiana Costa (Alma Science), João Moutinho (BUILT CoLAB), Rui Martins (Smart Energy Lab) and Hélène Kirchner (INRIA). The main goal was to address the main challenges, opportunities and best practices for the valorisation of knowledge at the European level. Codes of good practices for knowledge valorization that are being developed by the European Commission were the main motto for discussion, with special mention for the “Code of Good Practice on standardization in the European Research Area”, the “Code of practice on the management of intellectual assets for the exploitation of knowledge” and the “Code of practice on industry-academia and citizen participation”.
